Key Background

Elizabeth “Betty” Harn is formally President and CEO of Marquette Bank and Marquette National Corporation, a historic first as the firm’s first female chief executive officer. The transition was effective August 1, 2025, under a well-planned succession plan after veteran executive George Moncada retired, who will remain with the firm as a senior advisor and board member.

Harn’s choice is significant, not just for Marquette Bank but for the overall Chicagoland banking market—she is the only woman to be operating one of the top 25 banks in the area. She has been employed with the bank for over 25 years and thus has gained tremendous experience in the culture of the bank, its daily operations, and mission in the community.

Before promotion, Harn was Executive Vice President, that is, she led the major functions like operations, human resources, information technology and security, marketing, and corporate governance. During her tenure, Marquette Bank received twelve straight “Outstanding” ratings from the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago under the Community Reinvestment Act.

One of Harn’s signature achievements has been spearheading the “Marquette Neighborhood Commitment” program that combines volunteer service, economic development, community cooperation, and philanthropy. The program has been nationally and statewide recognized for its positive impact in the community.

Dedicated to the banking philosophy of the bank for neighbor communities, Harn has also worked in community organizations. She is on the boards of The Port Ministries and Mother McAuley Liberal Arts High School, confirming that banking is not just profitable but should also be for the sake of the communities where they do business.
