Professor Gokarn started her career as a biology teacher at St. Xavier’s and later led the biotechnology department. She has also worked as Vice Principal (Academics) and Director of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell. At 55, she has many years of experience in teaching, research, and administration.

She became interim principal in May 2025 after Professor Shinde retired. The board has approved her appointment, pending government confirmation.
