A pivotal moment came in sixth grade when Harvard responded to her inquiries about law school, fueling her passion. After earning her law degree, Iris served as Texas’s Assistant Attorney General, notably in the Vietnamese Fisherman’s Case against the KKK. She later became Austin’s first female and African American City Attorney, and continued her career in private practice. Now, as Chief Marketing and Client Development Officer at Akerman LLP, she leads a team focused on strategic marketing, client relations, and business growth.
