Key Background:
Nagpur and India have a reason to celebrate as Anubha Sahasrabuddhe has been chosen as the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lion, a well-known and long-established brewery in Australia. She is the first woman in the company’s 180-year history to hold this top position.
Popular beer brands such as XXXX and Little Creatures, owned by Lion, have indicated that after the current CEO, Sam Fisher, retires, Anubha will officially assume the position on October 1, 2025. Alongside her appointment, the company has also announced the creation of a new unit, Lion ANZ, which will merge its Australian and New Zealand operations to strengthen regional business growth.
Anubha, daughter of Dr. Ravindra and Dr. Sheela Sahasrabuddhe from Nagpur, grew up in Australia after her family relocated there in 1973. She currently serves as the Chief Growth and Commercial Officer and Co-Head of Lion Australia. She previously worked in international companies such as Coca-Cola and Mars Wrigley, joining Lion in 2021 after nearly 20 years of brand strategy, customer, and business development experience in Asia-Pacific and North America.
Her father, Dr. Ravindra Sahasrabuddhe, expressed immense pride, calling her achievement the result of hard work and consistent family encouragement. “We are very proud that she has reached such a significant position at a young age,” he said.
Anubha said that Lion already has a strong base to grow further. She shared that the company will work on making its brands stronger, using new technology, creating better products, and improving its supply system. She aims to take Lion’s popular brands to new heights and grow the business in Australia and New Zealand.
