Key Background:
When Paige Louise Williams borrowed £20,000 from her grandmother to open a small beauty salon, she had big dreams but no formal business plan. Today, a decade later, her brand, P. Louise, has become a global beauty phenomenon with a projected revenue of £138 million this year.
Paige, 32, grew up on a council estate in Droylsden, Greater Manchester, and left school without qualifications. She had just left his position in the MAC beauty counter to become a freelance make-up artist. Drag make-up, combined with her fascinations in creativity, led her to create a signature style that had a following really quickly.
With her grandmother’s loan, Paige opened the P. Louise Makeup Academy in Prestwich in 2014. The launch was modest, with only regular clients attending, and Paige faced early struggles, including having to sell her car to keep the business afloat. “There was no way my nana was losing her home because of me chasing my dream,” Paige recalls.
Her determination paid off. She started teaching make-up classes in her salon and then moved online to reach students around the world. At first, she charged only £10, but thousands joined, and her community still fondly remembers the hashtag #beansforlife.
Recognizing a gap in the market, Paige launched her own product line, starting with Rumour Base, an eyeshadow primer that quickly gained acclaim, including being ranked number one by beauty influencer NikkieTutorials. The use of social media such as TikTok contributed even more to her growth as she broke the UK record on TikTok Shop with over 1.5 million in one day in August 2024.
Today, P. Louise operates from a 36,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Stockport, featuring a store and a tourist attraction café. In October, Paige will open her first retail store at the Trafford Centre.
“I want people who work for me to feel free to be themselves,” Paige says. “I show up every day for my dreams, and I hope anyone stepping into my world sees that anything is possible.”
From a small loan to a multi-million-pound empire, Paige Louise Williams’ journey exemplifies resilience, creativity, and female entrepreneurship, inspiring women everywhere to chase their ambitions.
