Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Chairperson of HCL Technologies, has made history by becoming India’s richest woman, according to the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025, released on Wednesday. Making a debut on the prestigious list, Malhotra and her family secured the third spot overall with a combined wealth of Rs 2.84 lakh crore.

This is a historic milestone, as Roshni Nadar is the first woman to reach the top three on the list. At 44, she is also the youngest among the top 10, showing how technology is creating new wealth in India.

“For the first time, a woman entered the Top 3 of the M3M Hurun India Rich List 2025. Roshni Nadar Malhotra debuted at No. 3, symbolising the multi-generational power of tech-driven wealth,” the Hurun list stated.

Roshni Nadar, who studied at the Kellogg School of Management, has helped HCL grow worldwide and become a top IT services company. Under her leadership, HCL continues to grow and innovate.

She is also in the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which supports social causes and education. It is through her work that she has become one of the most influential female players in the business world by incorporating social responsibility into leadership.

The entry of Roshni into the Hurun list indicates that women are increasingly participating in the Indian economy. It also features 100 other women, among whom 26 made it in the list of billionaires and successful business owners, such as Falguni Nayar of Nykaa and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw of Biocon, evidencing the increasing presence of women in business.

This is a milestone and a source of celebration, as the Indian corporate world is getting more inclusive in terms of wealth and more representative in terms of gender.
