Background

Somdutta Singh, the founder and chief executive of Assiduus Global, has been honoured with an EY Entrepreneur of the Year award, becoming one of the few Indian women entrepreneurs to achieve the distinction.

Singh said she earned the recognition after representing India at the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year programme in the United States, where she stood as the only Indian woman founder among the finalists.

She called the award a milestone for first generation entrepreneurs and women founders building global businesses, noting that she follows Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Falguni Nayar as the third Indian woman to receive it.

The EY programme, established in 1986 and now active across nearly 80 countries and territories, recognises business leaders for innovation, company growth and long term value creation. EY selects finalists through an independent panel of judges based on entrepreneurial spirit, purpose, growth and impact.

Assiduus Global, the AI powered e-commerce and supply chain middleware company Singh founded, helps brands expand into international markets.

The company reports generating more than one billion dollars in revenue for partner brands, supporting the global growth of over 150 companies, and operating across more than 20 countries including India, the United States, Canada, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

It has appeared on rankings such as the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 India list and the Inc. 5000 list, and has remained profitable since its first year.

In addition to leading Assiduus Global, Singh established Karma Holdings and formerly held the role of vice-chairperson at the NASSCOM Product Council.

An alumna of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she described the latest honour as a reminder to dream bigger rather than a final achievement.
