Background
Mumbai Educational Trust’s Vishakha Bhujbal won the Women Power Impact Creator of the Year Award at the 2026 Women Power Summit in Mumbai.
Krishna Shroff, entrepreneur and documentary filmmaker, handed over the award under the Jury’s Special Choice Category. The honour recognised Bhujbal’s work in creating impact through education and her efforts to build systems of change that go well beyond what happens inside a classroom.
Accepting the award, Bhujbal spoke about what leadership means to her. She connected national economic progress to what happens at the ground level. According to her, India’s economic value extends beyond market performance and is anchored in grassroots development, as she urged leaders to build a more inclusive nation.
A large part of Bhujbal’s work has been with communities that rarely make it to national platforms. She has worked closely with women in rural India, operating on the conviction that when a woman gains strength, her entire family moves forward.
She has also championed indigenous Warli artists, helping them move from cultural preservation toward financial independence and stable livelihoods.
Billennium Divas organised the summit, which drew more than 250 participants including senior government officials, policymakers, and business leaders.
The event recognised individuals making tangible contributions toward India’s five trillion dollar economy goal. Bhujbal’s grassroots work is widely seen as feeding into the kind of inclusive growth that large economic targets actually depend on.
Her recognition at one of India’s leading women’s leadership platforms puts a spotlight on education and community empowerment as serious tools for national development.
