Key Background:
Girlguiding, the UK’s largest youth organization dedicated to girls, has named Felicity Oswald OBE as its new Chief Executive, starting 22 September 2025.
Felicity has more than 20 years of experience in public service and charity work. She was most recently Interim CEO and Chief Operating Officer at the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and has held senior roles in national security, policing, and emergency planning. She has also been a trustee for charities like NCT and Nacro.
In her new position, Felicity will work with the Chief Guide team, Board of Trustees, staff, and nearly 80,000 volunteers to support more than 300,000 young members across the UK. She has long been a supporter of encouraging girls and women into STEM careers, leading initiatives such as the CyberFirst Girls Competition at NCSC to spark interest in technology among young women.
This appointment comes as Girlguiding launches its “Girls Can Do Anything” strategy, which aims to double the organisation’s size in the next 10 years. The plan focuses on reaching more girls, boosting confidence, and helping them believe they can achieve anything. Felicity’s leadership will guide Girlguiding through this growth, with a focus on digital change and building inclusive opportunities.
Commenting on her appointment, Felicity said, “I’m honoured and delighted to be joining Girlguiding as CEO. For over a century, Girlguiding has shaped generations of independent, brave, and free-thinking young women. I look forward to working with the incredible team and volunteers to deliver even greater impact for the next generation.”
She succeeds Angela Salt OBE, who steps down after serving as CEO since 2019. Until Felicity formally begins her role, Amanda Azeez, Director of Communications, Marketing, and Fundraising, will act as interim CEO.
With Felicity Oswald’s appointment, Girlguiding reaffirms its mission to ensure that every girl knows she has the confidence and opportunity to achieve anything.
