Key Background:
EPIC Diabetes Conference returns in its 8th straight year, reaffirming its dedication to empower caregivers for diabetes to be empowered by education, innovation, and empowerment. The event will be occurring on May 3, 2025, at Hyatt Regency, Aurora, Colorado, and will be hosted by the Children’s Diabetes Foundation and the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes.
Among the conferences presented this year is its general theme this year for diabetes care in women. Diabetic women experience severe complications of disease during puberty, pregnancy, and menopause—all stages of life that are defined by fluctuating levels of hormones as well as direct regulation over glucose levels. Special sessions in these topics will be addressed by Dr. Sarit Polsky, director of the Barbara Davis Pregnancy & Women’s Health Clinic. She recommends the need for gender-sensitive diabetes care in such a way that complications and long-term outcome can be prevented.
Other than the women’s-only workshop, there are masterclass sessions that come with an experts’ panel of new diabetes technology, research, and emotional care. Visitors will get hands-on experience in insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, and emerging therapies. There will also be discussion about the psychology of diabetes, including tips on how to cope and approach other people for assistance.
The EPIC Conference is a treasure for caregivers, patients, and doctors. Through its focus on the teamwork and one-on-one care, the conference hopes to bridge the gap between medical progress and the daily reality of living with diabetes on a daily basis. It attempts to equip its attendees with the information and strategies that they can use to enable them to lead healthier, more confident lives.
