Women Receive First-Ever IFFCO Awards at Annual Meeting

Background

For the first time in its history, IFFCO gave awards to women achievers during its 55th Annual General Meeting. This was along with good financial results and employee benefits. The cooperative recorded a profit of ₹4,585 crore and approved employee incentives worth ₹490.65 crore.

The organisation presented its Sahakarita awards to women leaders from Jammu and Kashmir and Gujarat in recognition of their contribution to agriculture and the cooperative sector. Shakeela Akhtar received the IFFCO Sahakarita Ratna Award for 2024-25, which carried an honorarium of ₹11 lakh, for her efforts in strengthening the cooperative movement and supporting women in agriculture, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.

Bhavna Gondaliya received the IFFCO Sahakarita Bandhu Award for 2024-25 with a cash prize of ₹11 lakh for her contribution to cooperative activities and women’s empowerment in agriculture.

IFFCO stated that the decision to honour women achievers for the first time aligns with the United Nations’ declaration of 2025-26 as the Year of the Woman Farmer.

IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani said support from cooperatives, farmers and employees helped the organisation become one of the world’s leading cooperative institutions. He added that the cooperative continued to support the vision of strengthening farmers and rural communities through cooperative growth.

Along with an additional budget of ₹140 crore, the organisation also established a minimum compensation of ₹20,000 for lower-level employees. More than 850 cooperative leaders, farmers and stakeholders attended the event. IFFCO also highlighted its focus on sustainable agriculture, nano-fertilisers and support for small farmers.
