Background

An initiative has come up at Nagpur by the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Divyaj Foundation with an idea to enhance financial literacy skills of more than 1,000 women.

The programme began with a workshop for around 300 Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) workers. The session was held in August and focused on financial literacy, investor awareness, savings and investment choices.

The workshop was inaugurated in the presence of Divyaj Foundation founder Amruta Fadnavis, along with officials from NSE and other participating organisations.

NSE Vice President Joginder Singh highlighted the programme’s aim of taking financial education to more than 1,000 women in Nagpur. The initiative is designed to help participants make informed financial decisions and improve their financial confidence.

Fadnavis said financial literacy can play an important role in women’s empowerment. She encouraged women to understand the benefits of saving and investing across different asset classes to support their own financial well-being and that of their families.

The programme also included a separate session focused on health and well-being, giving participants access to information beyond financial planning.

The initiative builds on an existing partnership between NSE and Divyaj Foundation. The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2025 to conduct financial literacy workshops for women in workplaces and communities.

The latest programme brings the initiative to ASHA workers, who play an important role in supporting communities and connecting people with the public healthcare system.

NSE said the partnership will continue to expand financial education among women in Nagpur. The initiative aims to give participants practical knowledge and greater confidence in managing their finances.
