Key Background :

Reliance Power has demonstrated a robust comeback, with the recent performance in the equity markets being a case in point. The stock surged 15.72% intraday to ₹60.5, an all-time 52-week high, as exceptionally high trading volumes fueled the move. The rally comes after a big turnaround in the financial numbers of the company for Q4 FY25.

The firm reported a consolidated net profit of ₹126 crore for the quarter ending March 2025, marking a notable recovery from a loss of ₹397.56 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. The turnaround is largely attributed to effective cost rationalization and a decline in overall expenses. For the full FY25, Reliance Power posted a consolidated net profit of ₹2,947.83 crore, further reinforcing investor confidence.

The market numbers indicate the stock’s healthy long-term growth path. The stock has increased by 139% in the past one year, while two-year and five-year returns have been 356% and close to 2,900%, respectively. It is among the top wealth creators in the power space over the past few years. Promoters owned 24.98% as on May 7, 2025, while foreign institutional investors (FIIs) owned 12.87%. 0.37% and 16.1% were owned by mutual funds and other institutional players, respectively.

Experts consider Reliance Power’s stock to be gaining not only due to better earnings but also due to upbeat investor sentiment about the company’s operating efficiency and restructuring on a strategic basis. Although fundamentals are positive, analysts ask investors to monitor upcoming earnings and large-scale market trends before making new investments.
