June O’Sullivan OBE’s leadership journey began with personal adversity as a young single mother navigating an unsupportive work environment. Her early experiences of exclusion in childcare ignited a lifelong commitment to creating an inclusive, socially just Early Years System. As CEO of the London Early Years Foundation (LEYF), she transformed a small charity into the UK’s largest social enterprise nursery group, supporting over 4,000 children and employing more than 900 staff. June’s work is driven by the belief that high-quality early education is a powerful tool for social mobility. She promotes equity through inclusive practices, sustainable operations, and community partnerships.

Her founding of the London Institute of Early Years reflects a commitment to professional development, offering pioneering qualifications—including the UK’s first Early Years Chef Academy and a Sustainability Diploma. June advocates nationally for policy change, mentoring future leaders and influencing key stakeholders. Her leadership emphasizes holistic child development, environmental responsibility, and the empowerment of families. Through strategic innovation, she has reshaped childcare into a force for community resilience and societal progress. Honoured with an OBE in 2023, June continues to champion a vision where every child, regardless of background can thrive in a system rooted in compassion, quality, and justice.

Celebrated by The Education View as Visionary Voices of Inspirational Women Leaders in the UK, June O’Sullivan’s visionary leadership exemplifies how compassion, innovation, and social justice can redefine early childhood education.
