David, one of the most distinguished figures in Indian women’s cricket, brings decades of experience across playing, selection and talent identification to the role.
David will lead the UP Warriorz scouting programme, working to identify promising cricketers from the domestic and grassroots ecosystem and strengthen the franchise’s talent pipeline, according to a franchise statement.
Born in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, David ranks among India’s most accomplished women cricketers, having claimed 141 ODI wickets along with the world-record figures of 8/53 in a Women’s Test innings.
David later chaired the BCCI’s All-India Women’s Selection Committee, a post that gave her hands-on experience spotting talent and shaping player development. Her contribution to the sport earned her induction into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2024.
David said she was delighted to join UP Warriorz, adding that scouting goes beyond identifying performances and involves recognising the potential a player can reach with the right opportunities. She said she looked forward to helping the franchise build a strong talent pipeline.
Kshemal Waingankar, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Cricket at Capri Sports, welcomed David’s appointment, calling her contribution to Indian women’s cricket exceptional.
He said her experience as an international cricketer and selection committee chairperson gave her a unique perspective on identifying talent, and that her Uttar Pradesh roots made the association special.
